Quenser Barbotage (クウェンサー＝バーボタージュ Kuensā Bābotāju) is a member of the Legitimacy Kingdom's 37th Mobile Maintenance Battalion and a trainee as a mechanic of Objects, aspiring to be an Object designer. Unlike many members of the military, he does not belong to an elite class. Quenser and Heivia were the very first people to destroy an Object without the use of another Object or nukes.

Quenser is usually carefree and can also be somewhat perverted, as shown by his discussion with Heivia about Froleytia's breast size. He can be sly, serious and very smart when the situation warrants it. He is kind and hates leaving people to fend on their own, as shown when he went out to rescue Milinda on his own because no one else was willing to do that, because they knew that their enemy could be trying to use her to trap them.

Heavy Object (ヘヴィーオブジェクト Hevī Obujekuto?) is a Japanese light novel series, written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Ryō Nagi. ASCII Media Works have published eight volumes since 2009 under their Dengeki Bunko label. It has received three manga adaptations. In the future, the development of massive war machines called Objects have rendered conventional warfare and even tactical nuclear weapons seemingly obsolete. As a consequence of this military upheaval, all of the nations of the world have fractured into four coalitions which constantly wage war on each other; the "Legitimacy Kingdom", focused on tradition; the "Capitalist Corporations", which values profit; the "Information Alliance", focused on knowledge; and the Faith Organization, which values religion above everything else. With the perception that only Objects can destroy Objects, modern warfare is reduced to duels between Objects, resulting in shorter, cleaner, and safer wars. However, this all changes when two regular soldiers from the Legitimacy Kingdom, Qwenthur Barbotage and Havia Winchell, use their smarts and ingenuity to destroy an Object all by themselves. Having proven that Objects can in fact be defeated by conventional means, Qwenthur and Havia are thrown into a new world of harrowing adventures and dangerous suicide missions.
