Sakurako Kujō is a main protagonist. Sakurako is a osteologist. A mysterious woman who collects various kind of skeletons and bones. She has a calm demeanor and also is a perfect detective. She tends to get irritated easily if others neglects to take care of skeletal structures.
Sakurako is a smart beautiful woman who comes from a prominent family and lives in a big old house with only a housekeeper named Ume Sawa as a companion. With her being an osteologist, she also developed forensic skills from her uncle Shitara, a prominent forensic scientist in the prefecture, and has helped with many unsolved murders. She has a dislike for interpersonal relationships although she has a few close acquaintances like Shōtarou Tatewaki.

Shōtarou Tatewaki is a high school boy who assists Sakurako Kujō in her bone-digging expeditions. It so happens that they always find human remains in the process. Upon finding these remains, this leads to unexplained situations or even serious cases which Sakurako has to solve. He keeps Sakurako in check, as she would go crazy and try to keep the human remains for her own self interests. He has a calm, friendly and gentle personality.
