Scrubbed Raid Empty
PostSubject: Scrubbed Raid Scrubbed Raid I_icon_minitimeFri Feb 20, 2015 3:43 am

This is a card that I believe is incredibly underrated and it really holds a place in Pure Inzektors for my build.

Here's a link to the Wikia page for it: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Scrubbed_Raid

Anyway, the reason why I enjoy this card is due to its HUGE Usability against decks like Qliphorts. Now, in order to understand why it is that I say this, you have to know the rulings of Inzektor Cards themselves.

Inzektor Dragonfly: It is debatable to say this is  the best card in the deck, with Hornet sneaking up behind if not soaring ahead in players' minds. The rulings with this card are simple. Its effect cannot be activated during the damage step. Its effect cannot be stacked like the effect of Centipede that will be shown due to it somehow missing timing(though its effect is so similar to that of Centipede's that I cannot explain how its effect is different in any way).

Inzektor Centipede: Whenever Hornet is activated and is used to destroy Giga-Mantis, Centipede's effect(You can add 1 "Inzektor" Card from your deck to your hand) is allowed to stack. However, Giga-Mantis' effect loses timing and cannot activate. For proof that this works, I believe I have a replay to upload to this post from Devpro demonstrating this(though, the ruling could be wrong). If not, I will attach one when I come across it again.

A difference lies in the effect of "Inzektor Sword - Zektkaliber", which has a Mandatory effect. It does NOT lose timing and actually resolves first before the two instances of Centipede's effect.

Inzektor Hornet: Cannot try to send itself to the grave while something like Macro Cosmos or Banisher of the Light is on the field. However, against the effect of Dimensional Fissure I can still use it to send itself to the grave due to it sending itself there AND resolving as the effect of a spell card. The big kicker, and I mean biiiig kicker is that, due to Hornet being equipped to monsters as a Spell card, his effect where he sends himself to the graveyard to destroy a card on the field(he targets, BTW) is treated as a Spell effect.

This is a huge advantage over something like Qliphorts due to the fact that, while other decks just settle for waiting to draw into spells and traps to get rid of them, Cards like Centipede and Dragonfly can not only be used to first make it possible to destroy Qliphorts by equipping Hornet in the first place, but a card like Scrub-a-dub over there waiting to be used can accelerate these plays even further than they already are with cards like Insect Imitation, Allure of Darkness, and, dare I say it, Card Trooper.

Here's the basic plan of this:

  1. Have Centipede on field(easy enough)
  2. Equip something to Centipede using his effect like Ladybug(Again, easy enough)
  3. Activate that Ladybug's effect(Still on the easy side)
  4. Add Giga-Mantis(Don't question it. I know there are a lot of Inzektor cards, but just do it)
  5. Equip it to Centipede(Do I even need to explain how easy this is anymore?)
  6. Set Scrubbed Raid and possibly more backrow because Inzektors are known for that.
  7. During your opponent's Battle Phase, send Giga-Mantis to the graveyard. Activate both Centipede's and Giga-Mantis' effects(Remember that it's only in a case like Hornet where Giga-Mantis loses timing)
  8. Add Hornet with Centipede's effect and special summon Ladybug with Giga-Mantis' effect.
  9. Add Dragonfly on your next turn by equipping and using the effect of Hornet
  10. Go off for the rest of the turn. I would recommend utilizing that Hornet to blow up as much stuff as possible. I would honestly think that adding Giga-Mantis with Centipede's effect is probably your best move as you can play more explosively by sending it to the graveyard while equipped to Dragonfly.

While that play might seem incredibly situational, it's actually quite common. Even now with Dragonfly and Hornet Limited Inzektors are still relatively fast and consistent, and with the added bonus of being able to get their effects on your opponent's turn with Scrubbed Raid, I have my reasons for running it.

I am open to any debate.
